Rio Tinto ceo Tom Albanese became the second head of a FTSE-100 company to forgo his 2011 bonus last week when he and cfo Guy Elliott rejected the annual award following an $8.86 billion write-off of Rio’s aluminium assets, which slashed the miner’s 2011 profit by more than half.
Albanese follows Royal Bank of Scotland ceo Stephen Hester, who rejected his own bonus entitlement at the end of January. Both men were reportedly in line for bonuses...
