The West Coast’s first widespread price hike on structural steel tubing in more than three months is being partially cut back.
The $50-per-ton increase that local mills had been attempting to push through for about three weeks through mid-January would have raised the truckload (about 20 tons) price to as high as $1,070 per ton ($53.50 per cwt) on sales of core sizes of A500 Grade B hollow structural sections (HSS) to medium and large service centers in the Los Angeles market.
