TransCanada Corp. could potentially swamp the large-diameter line pipe market if the energy transmission firm’s Keystone XL pipeline is not ultimately built, a company executive suggested this week.
Roughly 75 percent of that material was manufactured in North America, fusion-bonded epoxy-coated, and more than meets necessary specifications and safety standards, he said.
When asked what might happen to that pipe if the project were not ultimately approved, Belage quipped: "Well, I guess I’ll be the biggest competitor to my suppliers," suggesting the energy firm would look to resell the material.
