Base metals prices fall in LME officials on renewed Greek woes

Base metals prices dipped again during official trading on the London Metal Exchange on Friday, February 10, as rumours emerged that the Greek austerity agreement may yet fail.

Clashes have reportedly erupted in Athens over the deal, as opposition turned violent. Copper prices fell to $8,605.50/06 per tonne, basis three months, after opening at $8,705 per tonne, and reached a new low for the day $8,466.25 per tonne. Chinese imports of unwrought copper and products were down in January to 413,964 tonnes, from a record 508,942 tonnes in December, an analyst said in a note.
