Prices for intermerchant 18/8 stainless steel scrap solids increased this week on a rise in nickel costs and increased demand.
18/8 prices stood at £1,300-1,350 ($2,057-2,136) per tonne on Friday February 10, down from £1,275-1,325 a week ago.
Prices were higher midweek, with a merchant reporting on Wednesday numbers as high as £1,380 per tonne after the LME nickel market broke through $22,000 per tonne.
Levels fell back o Friday as nickel dropped, however.
