Shandong Fangyuan will boost copper capacity to 600,000 tpy

Privately owned Chinese copper smelter Shandong Fangyuan will boost its cathode production capacity to 600,000 tpy by the end of 2013, up from 400,000 tpy in 2012.

It is starting a new line at its refinery in Dongying, Shandong province, where last year it lifted production capacity to 400,000 tpy from 250,000 tpy in 2011. Smelter utilisation rates in China were running at as low as 70% last year, but Shandong ran at 100% capacity, its chairman Zhixiang Cui told Metal...
