Vale posts record met coal output in 2012 on Moatize ramp-up

Vale’s metallurgical coal production hit a record high in 2012 at 5.08 million tonnes, the Brazilian miner announced on Friday February 1.
This compares with an output of 2.76 million tonnes in 2011.
The increase was mainly as a consequence of the ramp-up at its Moatize operation in Mozambique.
In its full year of operation, Moatize produced 2.5 million tonnes of metallurgical coal, against 275,000 tonnes in 2011.
