First Quantum starts mining operations at Sentinel copper project in Zambia

First Quantum Minerals has started mining operations at its Sentinel copper mining project in Zambia, the company said.
The miner is readying material for processing in June, when
its plant is expected to become operational. Sentinel, a
greenfield copper project, "has progressed on target and
well within budget", John Gladstone, First Quantum's resource
optimisation manager, said in an interview. "We have started
stripping and box cuts at Sentinel," Gladstone said. "But we
are going to have to move a significant amount of material
before we can reach the ore below the surface," he added. The
