DAILY SCRAP REPORT: Market remains slow before mayoral elections

Metal Bulletin’s daily index for HMS 1&2 (80:20) scrap material delivered to Turkey continued to weaken through the end of the week as the country’s scrap demand slowed ahead of mayoral elections on Sunday March 30.

The index closed at $364.66 per tonne cfr on Friday March 28, down $1.36 per tonne. The market remained slow as buyers had concerns about the effects of the mayoral elections, so most of them remained out of the market unwilling to buy before seeing the market settled,...
