Russia may switch to Asian stainless steel imports if Europe sanctions tighten

Russia may import more stainless steel from Asia to replace European product supplies if tighter sanctions are introduced, the Special Steel & Alloys Consumers & Suppliers Assn (SpetsStal) has said.
Russia imports more than 65% of the stainless steel consumed
in the country, the association said on Friday April 11. Some
21% of the total comes from Europe, where Outokumpu, Acerinox
and Aperam are Russia’s major suppliers. The West
imposed sanctions on officials and businessmen believed to be
close to Russian president Vladimir Putin after Moscow annexed
