Chinese manganese flake prices edge up

Chinese manganese flake prices have moved up slightly on tight supply in the spot market as well as on firmer purchase prices from local mills, sources said.

Mainstream transactions for the material stood at 12,500-12,600 yuan ($2,026-2,043) per tonne in the major production hubs of Hunan, Guizhou and Chongqing on Monday August 4. Prices are 50 yuan higher than they were on Monday July 28. "Smelters are more willing to raise their offer prices now, after seeing some prices increased by stainless steel mills," a trader from Shanghai said. Offer prices are now at 12,600-12,700 yuan...
