Asia's foremost gathering of high-level stainless and special steel executives.
Metal Bulletin Events and SMR’s Asian Stainless Steel conference is Asia’s foremost stainless & special steel industry summit, attended by decision makers from the region and internationally.
Seventh in the series, the conference will gather leading industry experts to examine the latest market trend across Asia and define the new direction for Asian stainless at today’s cross roads.
Asia has been the focal point of the stainless steel industry over the past 10 years. Despite rapid growth, production capacities have consistently exceeded regional demand, to the tune of 9mtpy. The Asian stainless industry will need to address restructuring inside and outside China, just as their counterparts in Europe and North America have.
At the same time, about 2/3 of world-wide growth (1.5 mill tonnes in 2012) will take place in China (+830,000t) and Other Asia (+200,000t) this year, confirming Asia as the growth engine of the global stainless steel industry. The 2-day conference will address all relevant commercial issues for Stainless Flat
Products, Raw Materials and Long Products, and offer the biggest networking platform in this industry, in Asia, in 2012.
Key issues to be presented and discussed include:
1. How has the European credit crisis and slow recovery of US economy affected stainless steel export from Asia?
2. What industry re-organization is happening in Asia?
3. Analysis of China’s growth segments and will we see saturation?
4. Will Indian become the next stainless powerhouse?
5. What are the positions and strategies for players in South East Asia?
6. Australian – markets and applications down-under.
7. End-use developments- automotive, elevator, houseware, petrochemical, oil & gas etc.
8. Raw material challenges and risk management: Nickel, NPI, Scrap, Nb, Molybdenum, FerroChrome
9. Flat and long product: market outlook and new product developments
