Optional field trip to Aurubis Hamburg smelter and refinery

Aurubis produces some 1 million tonnes of copper cathodes each year, is the leading integrated copper group and the world’s largest copper recycler. Established as Norddeutsche Affinerie AG in 1866, its Hamburg plant is today one of the most modern and environmentally friendly copper smelters in the world, producing cathodes, wire rod, continuous cast shapes, precious metals and specialty products.

 

Following lunch on Friday March 16, delegates will travel the short distance by bus from the conference hotel to the Aurubis plant. After an introductory presentation they will tour the smelter, refinery and related facilities, before departing the plant at 18.00 for travel to either Hamburg airport or back to the conference hotel
