Benedikt Zeumer

McKinsey & Co

Benedikt Zeumer is a Partner in the Metals and Mining Practice of McKinsey. He joined the Düsseldorf office of McKinsey & Company in 1995. He is part of the global leadership group for Basic Materials and in charge of the overall knowledge development, developing proprietary knowledge and industry insights, and co-leads the service lines for steel and non-ferrous metals. In this role he supports project as an expert, providing McKinsey insights on the steel market or operational benefits. Recently he has been actively leading studies in non-ferrous metals, such as developing portfolio growth strategies for non-ferrous mining conglomerates, optimising and transforming operations of copper and aluminium processors and smelters, in Europe, China, the Middle East and South America. He has been co-leading the McKinsey research work on Copper and Aluminum market perspective and operations, as published in McKinsey on Metals and Mining Before joining McKinsey, he managed various R&D activities at a research center sponsored by the steel industry and worked for the Max-Planck-Institute for steel research. Benedikt studied Metallurgy and Materials Science and earned his diploma and doctoral degrees at the Rhine-Westphalian University of Technology (RWTH) in Aachen.
