Field Trips

Registered delegates have the option to join one of two field trips on Monday, 25 September 2017.

Places are restricted to 2 delegates per company and are held on a first come, first served basis.

Each field trip is €100 per delegate. 

 

Option 1:  Field Trip to Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. Plant

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) is one of the world’s leading aluminium producers and is renowned for its premium grade aluminium products, technological strength and innovative policies. Adhering to strict environmental guidelines with a prominent track record for safety, it is widely regarded as one of the top ten performers on a global scale.

Alba is living through a new paradigm shift- the Line 6 Expansion Project involves the construction of a sixth pot line, a 1,792 MW power station and other industrial services. This game changer will boost the company’s per-annum production by 540,000 metric tonnes, bringing its total production capacity to 1.5 million metric tonnes per year by 2019.

Option 2: Field Trip to GARMCO:  plant tour including overview of new cast house

Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill (GARMCO), the Bahrain-based international aluminium rolling mill is one of the largest downstream aluminium facilities in the Middle East. Established in 1981 by the governments of Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Currently, work continues on GARMCO’s state of the art recycling and cast house facility. The new US$55 million expansion project is targeted for completion by November 2017 and will increase GARMCO’s production capacity by 150% to 200,000 tons of aluminium rolling slab in total.

(Delegates will be divided into 3 or 4 groups and will be provided with the proper PPE)
Stop 1: Remelt
Stop 2: Hot Mill
Stop 3: Finishing
Stop 4: Packing
11:50     Refreshments/ meet with management
12:10     Presentation on Remelt expansion
12:40     Busses depart from GARMCO
13:15     Arrive back at Gulf Hotel
