Union: ‘very good possibility’ of strike at Eramet plant

A strike by union workers at Eramet’s Marietta ferro-manganese plant in Ohio moved a step closer after labour negotiations failed to address key issues, a union official said.

Workers at the Marietta plant are resisting the company’s efforts to raise healthcare costs and impose a freeze on pensions (MB Aug 21). “There hasn’t been any progress on these issues,” Deem said, so there was a “very good possibility” that 288 unionised members would walk off the job on August 26.
