Ferro-silicon rally 'may continue to Q3'

Ferro-silicon prices continue to climb on the back of an acute shortage of material. Prices are expected to continue to rise and market insiders predict that the end to the current situation will not come until the third quarter.

The problems with availability began in December when Norwegian producers announced cutbacks due in the main to electricity price hikes. However, large consumers were sceptical about the scale of the price increases they saw in December and many bought limited tonnages in spite of the prospect of continuing supply disruption.
