(AMM) Shredder facility proposal at Sacramento port advances

A plan to install a $25-million shredder at the Port of West Sacramento in northern California is progressing now that federal money has become available for infrastructure improvements and local officials are close to ruling on the project’s environmental report.

West Sacramento has been awarded a $2.4-million federal infrastructure grant to create a new main entrance to the port. The federal funds, granted to the state for community development block grant programs, are contingent on approval of the shredding facility.
