LME WEEK: Warehousing to be a key focus for HKEx – LN Metals’ Dentoom

Warehousing looks set to be a key area of focus for Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing (HKEx), the new owner of the London Metal Exchange, according to the chairman of LN Metals.

Nigel Dentoom – who leaves LN Metals at the end of the month, following its sale to MRI Trading, a Switzerland-based metals concentrates trading subsidiary of Singapore-listed logistics parent CWT Group – said industry opinion “still remains divided concerning who are the villains and victims” in warehousing. “The debate concerning warehousing issues has reached a crescendo in recent months ...This matter will no doubt be a key focus for the LME under its new ownership,” he told Metal Bulletin. Warehousing has been in the spotlight for the past couple of years amid concerns over delays in accessing metal and ownership of warehouses by companies active in trading metals.
