CLOSE TO CLOSE: Lead prices finish 1.7% higher; copper inches up

Lead prices recorded the strongest gains on a close-to-close basis on the London Metal Exchange on Tuesday October 30, while copper and other base metals inched higher.

Three-month lead closed for the day at $2,042 per tonne, up from $2,007 per tonne a day earlier but below an intraday high of $2,054 per tonne achieved in the official session.
Gains came as a weaker dollar and stronger equities proved supportive during the European session, while the closure of markets in New York caused volumes to tail off towards the end of the day.
