LME OFFICIALS: Copper prices end year up 4.8%

Copper prices finished the year up 4.8% on an official basis on the London Metal Exchange on Monday December 31, as conflicting signals from China and the USA left prices rangebound on an intraday basis.

Three-month copper settled at $7,929/30 per tonne, up from $7,874.5/875 per tonne in the previous official session, as HSBC final PMI data for December beat expectations at 50.5, marking the first reading above 50 since October 2011.
