Guinea will relax tax demands in amended mining code

Guinea will "ease up" on tax demands from mining companies in its amended mining code, its mines and geology minister Mohamed Lamine Fofana said on Monday February 11.


Fofana said the new version of the 2011 mining code would be presented to parliament for ratification in the coming weeks.
The West African country’s parliament approved a mining code, allowing the state to take shareholdings of up to 35% in mining projects, in September 2011.
