Domestic Indian DRI prices drop $4 per tonne week-on-week

Prices of direct reduced iron (DRI) in the domestic Indian market continued to weaken this week, dropping by Rs200 ($4) per tonne to Rs19,000-19,100 ($353-355) per tonne ex-works.

Last week, similar material was priced at Rs19,200-19,300 ($357-359) per tonne ex-works. “Everyone is apprehensive about how much further prices of sponge iron [DRI] will fall as there is no expectation of a turnaround in demand any time soon,” an official from a DRI plant in the eastern Indian state of Chhattisgarh...
