CIS pig iron prices mixed despite quiet market

Prices for CIS-produced pig iron have had a mixed performance in the past week on sluggish activity and weak demand, market participants told Steel First on Thursday October 3.


Steel First’s assessment for Russia-origin basic low-manganese pig iron widened at both ends of the range to $425-440 per tonne fob Baltic Sea, compared with $430-435 per tonne fob a week earlier.
Similar material was heard sold at $440 per tonne fob for a cargo of 3,000 tonnes, and at $427 per tonne fob late last week.
Offers for Russia-origin basic low-manganese pig iron have been heard at $430 and $435 per tonne fob.
