SA scrap merchant sues regulator for declining export permits

South Africa’s second-largest scrap merchant, SA Metal, took the country’s International Trade Administration Commission (Itac) to court last week in a bid to force the regulator to grant export permits it had refused under the new scrap export policy.

SA Metal’s urgent interdict application was heard in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on November 13, the scrap merchant’s ceo, Graham Barnett, confirmed.
