MANGANESE ORE INDEX: Prices fall on port supply surge

Manganese ore prices dropped sharply on Friday November 22 on high inventory in China and poor demand from manganese alloy smelters.

Metal Bulletin’s index price for 38% manganese ore fob Port Elizabeth fell 11 cents to $3.73 per dmtu. Metal Bulletin’s index price for 44% manganese ore fell 5 cents to $5.16 per dmtu, the level where a parcel of over 5,000 tonnes was sold in China on a normalised basis.
