REVIEW OF 2013: A robust year for Japanese aluminium premiums

The benchmark main Japan port (MJP) aluminium premiums retreated in 2013 from the level seen in the last quarter of 2012 but stayed above $240 per tonne on supply disruptions and stable demand.

Slowing demand in the first quarter of the year meant premiums fell to $240-245 per tonne from $253-255 in the fourth quarter of 2012.
