US rebar trade case driving imports from Spain

An ongoing US trade case against rebar imports from Mexico and Turkey, rising domestic prices and tight production schedules have led rebar buyers to seek alternative suppliers.

In November, Spain shipped its first rebar to the United States since 2007, is poised to send a further 35,582 tonnes in January, according to license data through January 7 from the US Commerce Department’s Enforcement and Compliance division.
