Shanghai Futures Exchange mulls new metal contracts

The Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) is mulling new metal and steel contracts, including for hot-rolled coil, nickel, tin, alumina and stainless, according to market sources.

The bourse revealed the plan during a nationwide seminar for members in February. It also told members about plans to get foreign investors for futures trading in China, according to minutes of the seminar seen by Metal Bulletin.
The plan comprises “speeding up opening of existing contracts, especially of established commodities like non-ferrous and rubber”.
