Russian sector sanction fears cooled

Broad-reaching sanctions by Western governments against Russian economic sectors such as energy and metals & mining are unlikely, Arno Bohrens, head of energy and research at the Centre for European Policy Studies, said at a recent event.

Speaking at the plenary session of the European Aluminium Assn’s spring members’ meeting in Brussels on Tuesday April 29, Bohrens said that business would trump politics in much the same way as during the Cold War, when gas supplies from Russia into Western European markets were generally uninterrupted.
