German parliament begins debate on energy tax discount reforms

The German parliament began a debate, on Thursday May 8, on an amendment to its renewable energy tax reform act which will reinstate the discounts given to energy-intensive industries such as steelmaking.


The European Commission launched an in-depth investigation into the tax discounts received by German steelmakers and other high-energy users at the end of 2013.
