Gabon is a country on the west coast of Central Africa, bordering Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, and Republic of Congo. Its key metals interests are manganese and iron ore.

The country covers an area of 267,667 sq km. Its population is estimated to be about 1.4 million. French is the official language. The country is the world’s second-largest manganese producer, next to South Africa. GDP growth forecast Gabon’s economic indicators are good, with the GDP growth rate at 5.5% in 2013, slightly down from 5.7% in 2012. The GDP growth is forecast to improve to 6.7% in 2014 and 7.2% in 2015, respectively, as a result of increases in oil, forestry and mining revenues, according to the African Economic Outlook 2014 report.
