Low demand keeps CIS pig iron prices unchanged

Low demand in Europe and continued uncertainty over Ukraine kept CIS pig iron purchases and prices at bay, sources told Steel First on Thursday December 11.

While the situation in rebel-held east Ukraine – the scene for months of fighting between Ukrainian army forces and pro-Russia separatists this year – has been less intense, enabling the country’s pig iron producers to slowly restart production and return to the market, some uncertainties persist.
