SiMn prices rise as effects of Brazil's power crisis spread

Silico-manganese prices rose in Europe on Friday December 19 as market sources said they were starting to see the effects of Brazil’s energy crisis, which has already hit other ferro-alloys markets.

“It’s due to the power crisis in Brazil; there is less being produced there and we’ve had a request from a customer to cover volumes for South America,” a trader told Metal Bulletin.
Material is trading at €820-865 per tonne on a delivered basis in Europe, up from €810-850 per tonne previously.
