Rebar competition gets tougher as Saudi Arabia lifts export ban

Saudi Arabia has lifted its ban on rebar exports, conditional on “the availability of sufficient quantities of this item in the local market”, according to the domestic steel industry trade body.

The cancellation of the ban, which was introduced in 2008, “would support the national industry and reduce inventory”, according to the chairman of the National Committee for Iron, Shuail Aydh, quoted by the Arab Iron & Steel Union (AISU) on Sunday February 15.
