Asian slab import prices down further after Indonesian tender

Southeast Asia’s slab import prices have moved down slightly following the conclusion of a purchase tender in Indonesia that saw three different winners, sources told Steel First.

Around 30,000 tonnes of the semi-finished product will be supplied by a Brazilian mill at around $320-325 per tonne cfr, with shipment scheduled for June and delivery in July, sources said.
This compares with the previous known major deal in Indonesia involving a 40,000-tonne cargo to be shipped in April from Russia’s Far East that was concluded at $353 per tonne cfr in early February.
