Dongkuk’s Q1 2015 operating loss deepens on ‘sluggish demand’

South Korea’s Dongkuk Steel has reported a preliminary consolidated operating loss of 58.1 billion Won ($52.95 million) in the first quarter of 2015 on lower shipments and sales prices.


The result, which compared with an operating loss of only 1.27 billion Won ($1.16 million) in the first quarter of 2014, was almost three times the loss of 20.37 billion Won ($18.57 million) that the South Korean steelmaker reported for the whole of 2014 .

Dongkuk Steel, which is South Korea’s third-largest steelmaker, blamed an “oversupplied” market and “sluggish demand”...
