Eskom asks ferro-alloys producers to agree to peak-hour shutdowns

South African state power group Eskom has asked large industrial users such as ferro-alloys producers to commit to shutdowns over the winter period to conserve electricity.

Eskom expects to have to conduct stage 2 load reduction between peak hours of 17:00 and 21:00 daily during the week, it said.

The utility contacted several ferro-alloys producers, asking them to respond by the end of last week to the request to shut down...
