ASIAN STAINLESS STEEL: Chinese mills refocus amid trade barriers

Chinese stainless steel producers are increasingly looking at boosting domestic consumption rates with more trade barriers emerging in overseas markets, according to a Baosteel Stainless executive.

“Although exports make up 10-20% of China's total stainless steel output, the volume is still considerable. In the face of increasing anti-dumping measures, we cannot just rely on other countries to consume our output but ourselves as well,” vp He Ruying told delgates at Metal Bulletin’s 10th Asian Stainless Steel Conference in Singapore on Wednesday June 3.
