ArcelorMittal halts one of three working BFs at Kazakh plant after fire

Steelmaking giant ArcelorMittal has halted production at one of the three operating blast furnaces (BFs) at its integrated plant in Kazakhstan after a fire, the company’s spokeswoman told Steel First on Tuesday June 30.


The furnace at the Temirtau unit can produce 1.3 million tpy of pig iron. The production shutdown came after a fire in the power control room on the night of June 25, the spokeswoman said.
