Codelco suspends operations at Ministro Hales mine as contractors' strike spreads

The world’s largest copper producer Codelco has suspended operations at its Ministro Hales mine following an “illegal seizure” of the plant by contract workers, the company said on Monday August 3.

This is the second plant to be temporarily shut down by the Chilean state-owned company – operations at the Salvador project have been suspended since July 22 as striking contractors took over the facility.
