Falcondo’s new owner ANL plans to restart ferro-nickel production

Americano Nickel Ltd (ANL), the new owner of the Falcondo ferro-nickel project in the Dominican Republic, said it aims to restart the plant within months.

“ANL is focused on reactivating production at Falcondo in the next few months, generating more jobs and with that, contributing to the nation's economic growth,” the company said.
The mine's operations have been suspended for maintenance since October 2013, a decision motivated by high production costs and low nickel prices.
Nickel prices have continued to dive since then: while the average LME three-month nickel price was $14,135 per tonne in October 2013, it stood at $11,431 in July 2015.
