Russia’s rolled steel output drops 3% in July amid reduced demand

Finished steel production in Russia fell by 3% year-on-year in July to 5.2 million tonnes, the country’s federal statistics service, Rosstat, said on Monday August 17.


The output increased by 6% month-on-month, however.
Russian steelmakers have been facing slack buying activity on all fronts.
Market pricing sentiment was weak for the country’s key steel product – hot rolled coil (HRC) – in June, when July-rolling material was traded.
