CANACERO: Mexican mills preparing new steel trade cases

Mexico’s major steelmakers are planning to call on the government to open new trade investigations into imports of steel products, such as rebar, sections and welded tubes.


Local mills, which are currently discussing further measures to fight unfair imports, expect new probes to start within six months, while a temporary import tariff of 15% on imports of slab, cold rolled coil (CRC), hot rolled coil (HRC), heavy plate and wire rod is still valid.
