Duty unpaid Al premium spread widens on focus on long term; possible rises ahead

Ranges have been widening on duty unpaid aluminium premiums in Europe, as market participants reported continuing focus on long-term contracts.

November-to-December and November-to-January spreads on the London Metal Exchange have also eased, creating room for rises at the top end of the range, some sources said. Metal Bulletin’s quotation now stands at a weighted average of $107.86 per tonne, with a range of $95-120 per tonne. The market continues to be led by trader activity, meanwhile, and remains somewhat separated from the duty paid market, where activity is dominated by producers...
