Zinc was the outperformer of the LME base metals in Friday’s official session, rallying to close up 5.85% from Thursday’s close.
The metal’s three-month price pushed through $1,500 and $1,600, posting an intraday high of $1,620.50 just after 10am in London, buoyed by the announcement of production cuts from major Chinese smelters.
