India’s first auto shredder plant in the works

Plans are under way to build the first auto shredder plant in India, as part of the country’s strategy to organise and develop its recycling industry.

The effort is a public-private partnership between the government and an Indian conglomerate.
Flat-rolled steel processor Mahindra Intertrade signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kolkata, ferrous scrap export regulating authority, MSTC, on April 28, sealing the deal for the collaborative effort to set up an end-of-life vehicle processing facility.
