COMMENT: There's more than one way to call a market

If there’s one thing to be learned from the developments in the European ferro-vanadium market recently, it’s that there’s always more than one way to interpret market signals.

Taking ferro-vanadium as an example, there are several things going on at the moment that could push prices one way or the other.

Firstly, there’s the anti-dumping investigation into South Korean imports into the USA. Some sources have said they believe this could mean more Korean material will be diverted into Europe; others have said it could mean material from elsewhere is diverted away from Europe to fill any gaps in the USA.
