Brazil renews import tariff exemption on primary aluminium

Brazil has extended its import tariff exemption on primary aluminium for a third year, a move designed to fill the gap created by the decline in domestic production.

A total of 240,000 tonnes of unwrought aluminium will be free from the 6% import tax, the country’s foreign trade council, Camex, decided.
This will be valid for imports registered during a 12-month period starting in August 18, 2016, just after the current exemption period expires.
