Taiwan’s scrap import prices see small lift on sellers’ pressure

Import prices for containerised HMS-grade scrap in Taiwan have moved up for a second consecutive week, albeit by a small amount, as local buyers continued to show resistance towards rising offers.

Steel First’s import price assessment for USA-origin HMS1&2 (80:20) was $204-205 per tonne cfr Taiwan for the week ended Friday July 29, up $2-4 per tonne from the preceding week’s $200-203 per tonne.
Prices are now $5-6 per tonne higher compared with two weeks ago.
